With the addition of Acrobatics & Tumbling as a varsity sport, Fairmont State now features a spirit team and a dance team for entertainment at Fighting Falcon athletic contests. These groups, which were previously not available at FSU, will represent Fairmont State at athletic events, pep rallies, school functions, parades, and other community events.

Spirit Team & Coach Courtney Reymond

Courtney Reymond is in her first season as the coach of Fairmont State’s spirit cheerleading squad. Reymond was a graduate of Fairmont State with a degree in Education. She is currently a teacher in Harrison County. In addition to cheering and competing at all levels, she has also coached tumbling for eight years. She was a member of the 2010 national championship competitive cheer team at Fairmont State.

The Fairmont State University spirit team is an energetic, exciting group that cheers on the Fairmont State football, mens basketball, and women basketball teams at all home events. They also represent Fairmont State at pep rallies, parades, and school and community events. This team of student-athletes shows its support for the other Fighting Falcons athletic teams and clubs.

Dance Team

The Fairmont State University dance team is an energetic group that performs at Fairmont State football and basketball games, pep rallies, parades, competitions, and school and community events. This team of student-athletes demonstrates its support for the Fighting Falcons with entertaining sideline and halftime performances. This team recently brought home a first place trophy from the Starpower Talent Competition in Charleston, W.Va. on April 2, 2011.

Our style of dance consists of jazz, pom, kick and hip hop performances. The team also cheers on the sidelines of FSU football games.

The team is coached by Ally Chichester and Jess Kromer, both former members of the dance team.

The next try-out will be on Saturday, August 17th at 10 a.m. in the Feaster Center Auxiliary Gym. There will be two clinic nights, August 14-15, from 7-9 p.m. Attendance at one clinic is mandatory to try-out.
