Dan Gayton is in his first season as an assistant coach at Fairmont State in charge of the wide receivers. In addition to those duties, Gayton is also the recruiting coordinator for the Falcons.
Gayton comes to Fairmont State from Florida State where he spent five years as both a student and graduate assistant coach on the offensive side of the ball under Jimbo Fisher. He was involved in assisting Fisher and offensive coordinator James Coley on a daily basis while also being responsible opponent scouting, self-scouting and overall evaluation of the offense. Gayton also helped organize campus visits, football camps and Florida State's 7-on-7 Tournament. Gayton also organized and held wide receiver meetings, organized and constructed preseason playbooks and scouted opposing team cornerbacks at Florida State.
During his time with the Seminoles, Florida State went 47-20 and won its bowl game in each of those five seasons, including the 2013 Orange Bowl on New Year's Day.
