Veteran assistant Brad Campbell has been with the Fairmont State softball program since it started varsity play in 1995. In 2000, Campbell was named assistant coach under Joni Bokanovich, helping the Falcon program ascend to among the top teams in the WVIAC. Prior to the 2007-08 school year, he was elevated to assistant head coach and is involved in all facets of the program.
In 2010, Campbell helped mentor WVIAC Freshman of the Year, Chelsea Cobb, as Cobb established numerous FSU single season records as a pitcher. The Falcons also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
In 2009, FSU finished second in the conference regular season standings. Campbell helped coach pitcher Heather Shutler to first team All-WVIAC honors, as well as first team pick Kristy Rausch. In 2008, Campbell helped guide Fairmont State to a 30-23 record. Fairmont State had two players named first team.
Campbell has been integral in the recruiting and development of the Falcon players during his time at Fairmont State. Since 2002, Fairmont State has had 33 players earn all-conference honors, including 13 first team selections. In 2005, Jessica Greathouse was the first player in FSU softball history to be named WVIAC Player of the Year. He has also coached six academic all-region selections as a Falcon assistant.
Campbell himself began playing softball in 1984, and has played in four ISC world tournament competitions and 12 national tournaments. As a pitcher, he won four Ohio/Eastern US championships, and has been a part of 15 state titles. Before coaching at Fairmont State, he served as an independent hitting and pitching instructor for many local high school athletes.
Campbell lives in Fairmont with his wife, Sue. The couple has one son, Skylor, and a step-son Jeff Kincaid.
