Azusa Pacific Gets Past FSU, 272.180-266.770

FAIRMONT, W.Va. - Azusa Pacific jumped out to an early lead in compulsory (36.00-34.70) and added to its advantage in tumbling, picking up a 272.180-266.700 victory over Fairmont State at Joe Retton Arena on Monday evening.

After falling by a 1.30 margin in the opening event of the evening, FSU responded with a 29.00-28.35 advantage in the acro event. The teams also traded the next two events with APU winning the pyramid heats by a 28.80-28.70 advantage before FSU took the win in toss by a slim 27.55-27.50 margin.

However, Azusa Pacific outscored Fairmont 54.300-51.700 in the tumbling event and edged FSU in the team event (97.23-95.12) to get the win.

FSU picked up victories in the acro and toss events and posted high scores in five heats on the evening.

FSU will remain at home on Wednesday evening when defending national champion, Baylor, visits Joe Retton Arena for a 7 p.m. meet.
