FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- Quincy Redmon, a 2016 D2Football.com Honorable Mention All-American defensive end, was named a 2017 Preseason All-American by the same organization on Monday afternoon.

Redmon, the 2016 Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Year and first team All-MEC selection, enters his senior season after recording a team-high 15 tackles for loss and 12 sacks as a junior. Redmon also finished fourth on the team in tackles with 52 during the 2016 season.

Last fall, Redmon helped FSU to a 10-2 overall record and top 40 national rankings in five different categories, including total defense (29th), rushing defense (31st), sacks (22nd), points allowed (17th) and turnover margin (37th).

Redmon and the Falcons open the 2017 season on Thursday evening when non-conference foe East Stroudsburg comes to town for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Duvall-Rosier Field.
