CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Fairmont State's men's swim team finished seventh and the Falcon women finished 10th at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference (BMC) Championships.
The FSU men finished with 227 points. Wingate won the title with 714 points, followed by Queens (565), Johns Hopkins (520.5) and Washington & Lee (345.5).
Fairmont State's women finished with 145 points. Johns Hopkins won the championship with 818 points followed by Wingate (560) and Queens (388).
Kathryn Saurborn captured her second conference championship by winning the 100 freestyle in a time of 51.01. She also teamed up with Michelle Stambaugh, Cassie Annan and Alina Zakharava to finish ninth in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Zakharava added an eighth-place finish in the 1,650 free with a time of 18:11.80. Annan contributed a 23rd-place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:34.47 for the Falcons.
The Falcon men were led by Nuri Erhan's third-place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:51.42. Pasko Komadina added a fifth-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 16:11.31, and Emir Atilgan was eighth in the same event witha time of 16:31.04. David Dent contributed an eighth-place finish in the 100 free with a time of 46.31. He turned in a strong performance in the preliminaries with a time of 46.13 in that event.
Atanas Madolev finished 21st in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:17.71, and Kasozi Wilson was 24th in the same event with a time of 2:23.53.
The relay team of Dent, Komadina, Erhan and Atilgan finished seventh in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:06.80 in the final event of the championship.
