Janet Floyd begins her fifth season as head coach of the Fairmont State women's tennis team. Prior to her appointment in 2008, Floyd spent the previous two seasons assisting former coach Ken Miller.
Last season, Fairmont State posted an impressive 12-7 record and posted a 5-4 mark in the WVIAC to finish fifth. Galina Vishnikina, a current FSU assistant coach, earned All-WVIAC honors for the Falcons.
In the 2010-11 season, Floyd helped push the Falcons to an overall winning record (8-7) and a fifth-place finish in the WVIAC with a 4-5 mark in league play.
In 2009-10, the Falcons posted a 6-7 overall record and finished sixth in the WVIAC with a mark of 4-5. In her first season as head coach FSU also placed sixth in the conference.
A Fairmont native, Floyd played tennis at Fairmont State for legendary coach Dr. Bill Haines. She earned a bachelor's degree in operations management and a master's degree in business administration, each from West Virginia University.
In addition to her coaching duties, Floyd serves as an adjunct professor in the business and marketing departments at Fairmont State and West Virginia. She has taught at the collegiate level for 15 years.
Janet and her husband Brian reside in Fairmont with their children, Michael, Hannah and Andrew.
