Shepherd Tops FSU, 5-1

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – Shepherd advanced to the WVIAC women’s tennis semifinals by defeating Fairmont State 5-1 in the quarterfinals Friday morning.

Brittany Bolster and Christina Hammond got things going for the Rams with an 8-6 win at the No. 1 doubles spot. Alice D’Alauro and Katelyn Mumaw gave Shepherd a 2-0 advantage with an 8-5 victory at the No. 2 slot. Christa Carr and Rachel Harrison downed their opposition at No. 3 by an 8-4 count.

Mumaw won at the No. 2 singles position 6-0, 6-2 for the Rams. Hammond followed her up with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 while to complete the match.

The Falcons’ win came from Erin McKown, who notched a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 slot.
